A Pre-Competition Compulsory Choreography Division: Application Guidelines

Overview

The Pre-Competition Division is a category where participants can enter with either the WBC compulsory choreography or their own choice of piece.
A. The Pre-Competition Compulsory Choreography Division is for those who are seriously preparing for competitions or who wish to receive advice from the judges.
Judging will be conducted in order of age, but there will be no comparison with other participants. Participants will receive advice from the judges that will be useful for their future stage performances.
Please note that the advice may differ from the guidance of your instructor. Please accept it as the personal opinion of the judge, and ultimately, follow your instructor's policy on whether or not to utilize the judge's advice.


Eligibility

Target: Open to participants from 2nd grade elementary school students (7 years or older) up to 70 years old in the year of the competition.
Purpose: For those who are in the preparatory stages for competitions and wish to receive advice from the judges.
Nationality: Open to all nationalities.


About Judging

There are no preliminary or final rounds; participants will perform only once.
Judging is done by age order, but there is no comparison between participants. There will be no scores or rankings.
The advice from the judges is intended to be helpful for future stage performances. It may sometimes differ from your instructor's guidance, but please accept it as personal advice.

Regarding Pointe Shoes
All participants in the Compulsory Choreography Division must wear ballet slippers.

11-12 years old April 2, 2014- April 1, 2015

1st Year Junior High(J1)
12-13 years old April 2, 2013 - April 1, 2014
Male/Female Pointe shoes not permitted
2nd Year Junior High(J2)
13-14 years old April 2, 2012 - April 1, 2013
Male/Female Pointe shoes not permitted
3rd Year Junior High(J3)
14-15 years old April 2, 2011 - April 1, 2012
Male/Female Pointe shoes not permitted
Senior High School(S)
15-18 years old April 2, 2008 - April 1, 2011
Male/Female Pointe shoes not permitted
Adult(A) Age 18–70
Age shall be determined by the full age of individuals whose birthdays fall between January 1 and December 31, 2026.
Male/Female Pointe shoes not permitted


Advice Sheets and Awards

After the judging is complete, all participants will be sent an advice sheet at a later date.
All participants will receive an award that recognizes their individual strengths.

The Pre-Competition compulsory choreographies are:
A total of 5 choreographies for Female participants
A total of 3 choreographies for Male participants.

Regarding the Music for the WBC Compulsory Choreography

Please prepare your own audio source with a tempo close to that used in the assigned choreography video. You may adjust the tempo according to age and experience, but please refrain from making significant tempo changes.


Performance Time and Music

Performance Time: Please adjust the tempo of your performance to be within 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
Audio files: Please prepare your own audio files. Audio files must be in digital format. Submission instructions will be provided after entry.


Other Important Notes

・Participants should receive appropriate guidance from their instructors according to their age and ability in each division.
・There will be no comparison between participants; the judging is solely for the purpose of providing advice.
・Please understand that the advice from each judge is subjective and opinions may vary.


Request Regarding the Use and Distribution of Compulsory ChoreographyAttention

The choreography and composition of the compulsory pieces by the head judge are provided as official assignments for this competition. They may not be used for personal promotion, for teaching workshops to the general public, or for similar purposes without prior permission.
Furthermore, please refrain from collaborative posts (including Instagram's "collab" feature) or any form of communication that may mislead others into thinking you are a competition official. Always obtain prior approval from the organizers and the head judge.
If any unauthorized use or posting as described above is found, we will request the removal of the content and may, if necessary, take measures such as restricting future entries.
