B. Pre-Competition – Free Variation Division Application Guidelines B Entry

Overview

Similar to the A. Pre-Competition Set Choreography Division, this category is for those who are seriously preparing for competitions and wish to receive advice from judges.
Judging will be conducted in order of age, but no comparisons will be made with other participants. You will receive advice from the judges that will be useful for your future stage performances.
Regarding the advice, there may be cases where an instructor's guidance differs from a judge's feedback. Please accept this as the judge's personal opinion, and ultimately, follow your instructor's policy on whether or not to utilize the judge's advice.


Eligibility

Participants: Open to individuals from 2nd grade of elementary school (age 7 and up) to 70 years old in the year the competition is held.
Purpose: For those in the preparatory stages of competition who wish to receive advice from judges.
Nationality: Open to all nationalities.


About Judging

There are no preliminary or final rounds; there is only one performance.
Judging will be conducted in order of age, but no comparisons will be made between participants. There will be no scores or rankings.
The advice from the judges is intended to be utilized for future stage performances. Please understand that in some cases, their opinions may differ from your instructor's guidance, and should be accepted as personal advice.

About Advice Sheets & Awards

After the judging is complete, an advice sheet will be sent to all participants at a later date.
All participants will receive an award that recognizes their individual strengths.


About the Free-Choice Piece

Performance Time and Music

Performance Time: The performance must be within 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Music: Please prepare your own music source. Music must be in a digital format. Instructions for submission will be provided after entry.


Restrictions: Please select a piece from the classical ballet repertoire. It is acceptable to re-choreograph the piece to suit the participant's age, but it is desirable to arrange it in a way that respects the original choreography.
・ Restricted Repertoire: Please note that the following pieces cannot be performed.
